Laura tucker
Board Member and Board vice chair
Laura Tucker’s leadership in the women’s community spans more than 25 years. Crain’s Chicago Business calls her one of three “women keeping threats to Planned Parenthood at bay.” As a fundraiser, public policy director, political consultant, board member, and PAC founder, Laura has fought for progressive agendas throughout her career. As the former Chairperson of the Board of Directors for the national Planned Parenthood Action Fund, Laura provided governance leadership to the advocacy and political arm of Planned Parenthood Federation of America. As Chair of the Board of Directors for Planned Parenthood Illinois Action, she guided the organization’s electoral and public policy activities. During her six years with the Chicago Foundation for Women, she led grant making, fundraising and the task force charged with revamping the organization’s grant making guidelines.
Laura directed the nation’s first Women’s Advocacy Division for the Office of Attorney General and served as the Chief Policy Advisor on Violence Against Women for the same office. She also chaired the Illinois Attorney General’s Women’s Advisory Commission as well as his Domestic Violence Task Force. Early in her career, Laura was the Public Affairs Director for the ACLU of Illinois working on the Reproductive Rights Project among others. Her experience staffing political campaigns includes serving as the Director of Operations for the Industrial States for the 1992 Clinton-Gore campaign.
