A Special Message from Our Chair & Executive Director

At Project 50, we are laser-focused on building political power for reproductive rights at the state level, beginning with the 17 states that have banned abortion healthcare by the U.S. Supreme Court’s anti-choice majority - a majority that former President Donald Trump considers his proudest achievement.

We are filled with optimism as America stands on the brink of electing the most ardent advocate for reproductive rights in the history of the presidency: Vice President Kamala Harris. Her candidacy stands in stark contrast to that of former President Trump and his new running mate, JD Vance, who has gone on the record stating “I certainly would like abortion to be illegal nationally.”

We are beyond excited that such a strong and empathetic reproductive rights leader, Vice President Harris, could soon become the 47th President of the United States of America.

From appointing Supreme Court justices who uphold the fundamental right to make one’s own decision about pregnancy, to funding community-based family planning health centers, the leadership role of a pro-choice President and her administration can’t be overstated.

That is just one reason why we at Project 50 are so committed to growing the influence of state-based reproductive rights political organizations.

The candidate who wins the 2024 Presidential election will benefit from voter turnout efforts up until the moment the polls close on November 5th. Those efforts work best when they are led at the community level, as demonstrated by Project 50’s state partners in Arkansas, Oklahoma, South Carolina, and beyond.

Make no mistake - reproductive rights are on the ballot this November. Every vote is consequential this year, in every precinct, and we can’t take any votes for granted. Those who oppose President Kamala Harris are the same individuals who are determined to strip women and girls of their ability to chart their own futures.

I, along with the Project 50 Board of Directors, am deeply grateful for your support and your local efforts to educate and mobilize your family, friends, and neighbors leading up to this critical election. Every conversation you have can help bring one more voter to the polls.

Thank you for your support. We’re grateful for your collaboration.

Sincerely,

Hon. Heather Steans, Chair, and Bryan Howard, Executive Director
