Spotlight on Abortion in Oklahoma

This week we’re thrilled to spotlight our wonderful partners in Oklahoma who are on the ground fighting to restore abortion access. Abortion is completely banned in Oklahoma except for the narrowest of exceptions to preserve the life of the mother.

We hope you’ll read about the important work of Project 50 and our state partners in Oklahoma and consider supporting this critical organizing, which cannot continue without you. Can you chip in $10, $25, or $50?

We are honored to work with our Oklahoma state partner, We Are Rising, which brings together Oklahomans from all political perspectives to stand up against laws that impact the health, safety, and well-being of women and girls. The organization was founded in response to the extreme abortion bans in Oklahoma. In their first election campaign, they contributed to the victory of pro-choice Oklahoma County District Attorney Vicki Behenna. We Are Rising seeks leaders and policies that represent the health needs of all Oklahomans.

A 501c(3) arm of We Are Rising, repro46, was founded in March 2024. Repro46 is informing Oklahomans of the impacts and unintended consequences of Oklahoma laws that harm the health, safety, and well-being of the state’s women and girls. This is the first step in restoring the right to abortion and protecting access to IVF, birth control, and maternal health in Oklahoma.

After consulting with We Are Rising, Project 50 identified two state legislative races in Oklahoma that are incredibly tight and critical in protecting and expanding the pro-choice coalition in the state legislature. Project 50 has launched direct mail and text electoral programs in these suburban Tulsa and Lawton, OK districts to ensure voters are aware of how the candidates stand on reproductive rights.

We hope you’ll take a moment to read about and support the pro-choice candidates in these crucial races below.

We know resources are finite and that there are so many organizations and candidates asking for your support before the November 5th election. That said, Project 50 is the only organization laser-focused on building political power for reproductive and abortion rights on the state level. This work is critical to ensure women in states like Oklahoma are not left behind and unable to access healthcare.

We hope you will dig a little deeper to support Project 50 with a contribution today.

Thank you, once again, for your commitment to this important issue.

Always in choice,

Marlou Svenson
